La Colonia Jiujitsu, Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca
Putting this post up so I can share more easily instructions to friends coming for the first time to try Brazilian Jiujitsu BJJ at La Colonia.
Classes are at La Colonia Jiujitsu (@lacoloniajiujitsu on Instagram), usually at 12 PM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, where you can come in regular athletic clothes. On Monday and Wednesday, you’ll need a Gi (they rent them there if you don’t have one). Schedule is here.
Each class is about 1.5 hours, message them for the pricing and the pro tip is paying monthly is a lot cheaper if you live in town. Plus, there are cocos frios to enjoy after class! 🍹
The space is fully equipped with a little gym (weights, pull-up bar), showers, and toilets. Just a heads-up: keep your nails short, shower before class (no sand!), wash your feet, and wear sandals when you’re off the mat. It’s all part of keeping the mat clean and avoiding scratches/infections.
