The author, Miles Mathis, has spent two years self-diagnosing his symptoms, which he initially attributed to “Solar Minimum Sickness.” He has now concluded that the primary cause is altitude sickness, or hypoxia, due to living at 7000 feet for 13 years. Several contributing factors have exacerbated his condition, including being in his 50s, the current severe Solar Minimum (the worst since 1810), which he believes lowers planetary charge levels, subsequently reducing oxygen production and the body’s ability to process it. This low charge impacts cellular functions, including lung and heart function, contributing to his brachycardia (slow heart rate).

Other contributing factors include his habit of sleeping with covers over his nose and mouth in his dry, allergy-prone home in Taos, which reduces oxygen intake and increases carbon dioxide rebreathing, leading to morning nausea. A small space heater in his computer room also consumes oxygen. These factors, combined with his age and the solar minimum, also explain his chest tightness, fatigue, malaise, shortness of breath, anxiety, and numb extremities. His symptoms temporarily vanished when he traveled to lower elevations like Atlanta or Austin, where oxygen levels were higher and he didn’t need to cover his nose and mouth at night. He also notes a slight hyperthyroid condition, which he believes is the thyroid overcompensating for organ stress caused by hypoxia.

In an addendum, Mathis discusses a recent weight gain of about 10 pounds, which he observed in himself and other young women at his yoga class. He theorizes that during Solar Minimum, the body’s ability to burn fat during prolonged sleep is hindered due to low charge levels, leading to fat accumulation. This inability to burn fat, he believes, triggers his nausea upon waking. He suggests that higher oxygen levels in the bedroom, avoiding covering the nose and mouth, keeping the bedroom door open, and eating a healthy meal before bed might help. He also mentions considering an oxygen bar and hyperbaric oxygen treatments, though the latter is expensive. He hopes for a return to normal charge levels by summer 2020. He notes that for the past couple of weeks, consciously avoiding covering his nose and mouth hasn’t significantly improved his symptoms, leading him to re-emphasize Solar Minimum as the main culprit. He observes that the solar rise is stalled, possibly due to Pluto’s influence or a weak patch of charge in the Galaxy.
